Katherine Yan and Susan Hong joined JIL this summer as Social Impact Interns through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Priscilla King Gray (PKG) Public Service Center.

For more than 30 years, the PKG Center has been the epicenter of public service at MIT. The center taps and expands MIT students’ unique skills and interests to prepare them to explore and address complex social and environmental challenges.

Katherine Yan, a rising sophomore at MIT, is studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. “What drew me to JIL was its mission and values,” she shares. “I truly believe in the value of an equitable, compassionate society, and I've long been aware of the central role the justice and legal system plays in its development.”

Susan Hong, also a rising sophomore at MIT, is studying Computation and Cognition. “I'm excited to learn about how data science can be used as a tool to advance equity and help build systems that support people,” she shares.
